Haiti - Tourism : Haiti registered as stopovers in the «Grand Tour 2017»

Wednesday, at the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) in Paris, Michaëlle Jean, Secretary General of the Francophonie and Jean-Marie Le Guen, Secretary of State for Development and Francophonie to the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, launched the "Grand Tour 2017: Voyage en Francophonie" a trip on the 5 continents which will take place throughout 2017 in 100 steps, including twenty in France. This trip brings together a hundred of major cultural events that illustrate the vitality and modernity of the cultural Francophonie throughout the world.

The Grand Tour will stop in Haiti for the Rencontres des musiques du monde from June 16, 2017 to June 25, 2017, which brings together artists from the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, America and Africa. In addition to the promotion of contemporary music inspired by traditional heritages, these meetings seek to facilitate access to the world market for world music and especially Caribbean music.

And also for the Festival Quatre Chemins from 21 November 2017 to 3 December 2017 in Port-au-Prince, which for 14 years has given opportunities for Haitian artists to perform with foreign artists (France, Benin, Democratic Republic of the Congo , Senegal and other...) before an audience of several thousand people. On the menu: dances, theater, poetry and street performances. The festival wants to use art to educate, organizing workshops for children on risk management and natural disasters. A festival that now has its place in Haiti.

Let's recall that the Grand Tour 2017, is placed under the patronage of the President of France, François Hollande, and carried by Jean-Marie Le Guen, was initiated by his predecessor, André Vallini and Michaëlle Jean.
