Haiti - Tourism : The riots have caused serious damage to the tourism sector

Colombe Emilie Jessy Menos, the Minister of Tourism deplores and firmly condemns acts of violence, robbery, vandalism and looting perpetrated against certain commercial establishments and hotels in particular in the metropolitan area https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24892-haiti-flash-demonstrations-violence-balance-of-2-days-of-chaos.html in the days from 6 and 7 July 2018 and stresses that such acts are detrimental to the tourism sector and the image of the destination.

These acts gave rise to scenes in which the lives and property of peaceful citizens were damaged or destroyed by fire. Minister Menos expresses her sympathy to all those who have been victimized during these two days of violence.

Minister reiterates unconditional support and full support to the tourism sector and informs the setting up of a support and technical support committee for the victims of the sector as soon as possible. She informed that the main associations working in the sector will be invited to a working meeting for a review of the damage suffered and the formulation of the necessary actions in order to remedy the problems that their victim members are facing.
