Haiti - Japan : Donation of 4.4 million dollars for the purchase of heavy equipment

Tuesday in the framework of cooperation and ties of solidarity between Japan and Haiti that have existed for 60 years, Bocchit Edmond, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Yoshiaki Hatta the Ambassador of Japan in Haiti signed a grant agreement for the Economic and Social Development Program (non-project) of approximately $4.4 million (500 million yen). This amount will be used for the purchase of heavy equipment for road construction (Excavator, Dump Truck, Vibrator Roller and Concrete Cutter).

At the end of this Agreement :

Japan undertakes to execute the grant by making payments in Japanese Yen to an account opened by the Government of the Republic of Haiti for that purpose in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement.

The Haitian Party undertakes to :

Maintain the products and/or Services in an efficient manner for the implementation of the Program;

Ensure the unloading and customs clearance of the Products at the ports of landing in Haiti as well as their internal transport;

Grant Japanese individuals and/or natural persons from third countries, whose services will be necessary for the supply of products and/or services, the necessary facilities for their entry and stay in the country;

Submit to the Government of Japan a report on the use of funds, transactions made from the account opened for this purpose, in accordance with the conditions provided for in the Agreement.
