Haiti - Politic : OFATMA hands over 4,000 health insurance cards to the Ministry of Education

Thursday Agabus Joseph the Director General of the Office of Occupational Accident Insurance, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA) together with Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education at a press conference on health insurance offered to the Ministry's employees, committed to facilites their access to health insurance services and to improving the quality of the medical services offered by OFATMA.

Minister Cadet insisted on the need for this social security cover for education workers, recalling that it was "a claim that still comes back to teacher unions calling for improvements to the services offered under the Health Insurance Program. " In this perspective, he encourages the latest actions of OFATMA, which is part of this dynamic of change in the services offered by the health insurance program.

Along the same lines, Agabus recalled in the preamble the interest of a good level of social protection, expressed by the Head of State for three categories of workers: the police, the health workers and those of the education, before passing from words to deeds, handing over to the Cadet Minister 4,000 cards for the educational and administrative staff of the Ministry.

The Director General of OFATMA revealed that 59,000 state employees out of 82,000 had already received their health insurance card, indicating that in the first quarter of 2019, his institution hopes to reach about 90% of employees. Recalling that to date, about sixty hospitals across the country accept the health insurance card.
