Haiti - Diaspora : Fabienne Colas receives the prestigious Canada's Top 40 Under 40 Award

At the Grand Awards handover Gala at the Toronto Convention Center in Canada, on November 21, actress, entrepreneur, filmmaker and speaker Fabienne Colas of Haitian descent, received the prestigious "Canada's Top 40 Under 40" award alongside 39 other inspirational personalities of the country.

This high distinction brings great recognition to her work across Canada and internationally for many years. Fabienne Cola was "honored and delighted to have received the Top 40-40 Canada Award, alongside other inspirational personalities of the country and humble to be the only black laureate in Canada and the only woman in Quebec."

Recall that the winners were chosen based on four key criteria: vision and innovation; leadership; impact and influence and social responsibility.

Award-winning actress, entrepreneur, filmmaker and speaker, Fabienne Colas, born in Port-au-Prince on March 18, 1979, founder of the Fabienne Colas Foundation (FCF) who created and organizes 7 successful festivals between Montreal, Toronto , Halifax, New York and Port-au-Prince, including: the Montreal International Black Film Festival, which is today the most important festival of its kind in Canada and a key player in cultural diversity in Quebec; the Toronto Black Film Festival, which has become a real movement, and the Haiti en Folie Festival in Montreal and New York City, the largest multidisciplinary festival outside Haiti, devoted entirely to Haitian culture.

In addition to offering scholarships in the arts, mentorship programs and awards of excellence, FCF presents and rewards artists who otherwise would not have been seen or heard. Since its inception in 2005, its initiatives and festivals have featured and supported more than 2,000 artists and attracted nearly 1 million festivalgoers to Canada, the United States and Haiti.
