The Gros Morne market goes up in smoke

A fire broke out on the evening of April 27, 2022, at the market in the town of Gros-Morne (Artibonite Dept.). The absence of firefighters in the area made control of the fire more complicated. No official damage report has yet been communicated, but the losses and damage seem significant according to the first information. The cause of the accident remains unknown at this time.

64 Haitian boat people intercepted

On April 27, the US Coast Guard "Reliance" intercepted a small sailboat overloaded with illegal immigrants about 60 miles northwest of Cuba. There were 64 people of Haitian origin on board (49 men and 15 women). The crew of the "Reliance" transferred the Haitians to the "Royal Bahamas Defense Force" (RBDF). Let's recall that US Coast Guard crews have intercepted 3,795 Haitians since October 1st, 2021.

33rd anniversary of the Pyepoudre Cultural Center

The Pyepoudre Cultural Center (312 route de Bourdon, Port-au-Prince) is celebrating its 33rd anniversary.
