Friday, October 28, 2022, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said after sending a delegation to assess the humanitarian and security crisis in Haiti "I am so happy that the Caribbean countries are showing such interest in being part of any solution," Trudeau told reporters in Winnipeg. Adding "But, of course, before establishing any kind of mission, we must see a clear plan of action."

When asked by journalists if Canada would be ready to deploy its armed forces as security in a mission in Haiti, neither Trudeau nor Anita Anand Minister of Defense, who was also at the press conference, answered...

"We make sure we have all the information before making a decision," said the Minister of Defense, apparently leaving the door open to this possibility.

Trudeau stressed that the key to any mission would be the support "[...] of the Haitian people and the Haitian Government and the opposition parties and a consensus on how we can ensure that by helping the Haitian people, we let's ensure a stronger future."
