Thursday, December 22, 2022, as part of the "Konsila a lakay" program, the Consulate General of Haiti in Santiago (Dominican Republic) delivered to Puerto Plata, a first batch of documents.

Let's recall that this new program which aims to provide the Haitian community in the Cibao region (among others) is bearing fruit. Nearly 700 Haitians received their documents (Passport, Birth Certificate and National Identification Card).

Thanks to the dedication of the entire Consulate team, a large number of Haitians in Puerto Plata were able to obtain their identity documents, an important step towards Dominican regularization.

Jean Gardy Marius, the Consul Head of post in the field, said he was satisfied with this first step, inviting at the same time the community to organize themselves to legalize themselves, assuring "Chak grenn ayisyen ki ap viv Repiblik dominikèn , patikilyèman nan rejyon sibao dwe gen paspò yo, epi konsila a ap travay pou paspò yo prè pi rapid. Kelkeswa kote ayisyen an ye, konsila a ap deplase vin fè dokiman pou li pou rann li legal."
