Haiti Education: (D-3), 19,090 candidates that failed will take part in the 1st session of the permanent baccalaureate

Thursday February 9, 2023 at a press conference, Meniol Jeune Director General of the Ministry of National Education, accompanied by several officials, announced that 19,090 candidates that failed will take part in the 1st session of the permanent baccalaureate, scheduled in the ten departmental directorates of education from Monday 13 to Thursday 16 February.

These exams include two categories of participants, namely 17,543 candidates from the renovated secondary school (S IV) and 1,547 from the traditional philo. They will compose in the subjects for which they had not obtained their average, specified Professor Renan Michel, Director of the National Bureau of State Examinations (BUNEXE) stressing "the marks being kept in the computer system of the Ministry only for a period not exceeding two years. Once this period has elapsed, candidates are obliged to retake all subjects."

According to the statistics of the National Bureau of State Examinations (BUNEXE), communicated by the Director General of the MENFP, for the renovated secondary, the West department recorded the largest number of registered, a total of 8,934 candidates,followed by the North-East department which announced a list of 1,573 participants. The South department received the smallest number, with 224 candidates.

"We are very advanced in the process. Preparations are well underway. More than 167 texts are developed for these exams. They will be sent from Friday, February 10 to all the departmental directors for the reduction," assured the Director General of the Ministry who took the opportunity to remind the candidates of some instructions liable to severe sanctions in the event of non-compliance.

Strict enforcement recommendations :

  • Any candidate caught in the act of fraud or reprehensible behavior will have their exam canceled and will be asked to leave the room after a report has been drawn up. The offending candidate will not be able to participate in the examinations for a minimum of two years;

  • No candidate may enter an examination center with a weapon, whatever its nature;

  • The use of programmable calculators and any other communication device is strictly prohibited;

  • Cell phones are strictly forbidden in the examination centers, except for the leaders, if necessary;

  • Any contestant caught cheating with a cell phone will be eliminated;

  • Anyone caught in the act of fraud near and/or in the examination centers will be arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities for legal action;

  • Examination center security officers are prohibited from entering the examination rooms;

  • No one can have access to an examination center without special authorization from the central authorities (Minister, General Directorate, BUNEXE, Departmental Directorate).

For his part, Miguel Fleurijean, the Director of Secondary Education, indicated that this year important information was noted on the correctors who constitute one of the important links in the chain. Based on this measure, there is now the possibility of being able to trace the markers of candidates' exams.
