The Bahamian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announcement follows a Monday request from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for Haiti's neighbors to partner with Kenya https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-40149-haiti-un-flash-antonio-guterres-urges-the-states-of-the-region-to-join-kenya.html , who last week said he was ready to send 1,000 police in Haiti to help stem gang violence. "The Bahamas has committed 150 persons to support the multi-national force once authorized by the United Nations Security Council," the ministry said in a statement, adding that the Bahamas "looks forward to cooperating with hemispheric partners including the United States and Canada."

The Bahamas' statement echoes comments by Kenyan Foreign Minister Alfred Mutua, who described the security intervention as an opportunity to stand "with people of African descent around the world".

Acting Prime Minister Ariel Henry:

On the same day, Acting Prime Minister Ariel Henry announced that he had had a cordial and fruitful conversation with the President of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, during which "we discussed, among other things, the forthcoming arrival of a recognition and evaluation in Haiti. He informs that he took the opportunity to thank the President and the Kenyan people for this demonstration of fraternal solidarity by saying that he was ready to assume the command of a multinational force mandated by the UN to restore security in Haiti.

Canadian Ambassador :

The Ambassador of Canada to Haiti, Sébastien Carrière declared on his "X" account (former twitter) "We are ready to work with Kenya and all partners to ensure the success of the imminent reconnaissance and any subsequent possible deployment under the mandate of the UN Security Council."

United Kingdom:

"The UK welcomes Kenya’s announcement to provide the government of Haiti with the security assistance it has requested. Endemic violence has instilled fear, caused instability and obstructed the advancement of the Haitian people for too long," David Rutley, MP for Macclesfield.

OAS :

The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) welcomes the announcement made by the Government of Kenya to play a leading role in a multinational force to meet security needs in Haiti .
