Haiti - Education : 102 professional certified in earthquake-resistant construction in Petit-Goâve

The National Institute of Vocational Training (INFP) and the Swiss Cooperation in Haiti (DDC) have proceeded last Thursday to the presentation of certificates to 102 professionals of Petit-Goâve, selected based on their experience in their respective trades [masons, carpenters, ironworkers], which have successfully completed two series of courses from April to June and from August to October 2011, on earthquake-resistant construction.

This training focused on building standards and the principles established by the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC).

With these new achievements, the recipients will be able to better serve the people of Petit-Goâve that may appeal to their professional competence certified to achieve their various construction projects. "The development of the country must go through the vocational training," said Marcel Gabeaud, project coordinator at the INFP during the presentation of certificates.

These building professionals are now able "to implement the earthquake standards for construction, learned in these courses, while demonstrating ethical," wished Edita Vokral, Ambassador of Switzerland in Haiti.
