The Minister of Foreign Affairs Laurent Lamothe, attended the gala fundraising of the organization "Happy Hearts Fund" at the Metropolitan Pavilion, Saturday, Nov. 5 in New York. This activity, initiated by the supermodel, Petra Nemcova, has allowed to collect funds to build 10 additional schools in Haiti.

Also attended the gala, the acting Consul General of Haiti in New York, Dr. Charles Forbin, the Ambassador Wyclef Jean, the designer Donna Karan and representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The commitment of the American actor Sean Penn in the relocation of IDPs of January 12 in Haiti, through its NGO JP/HRO has been honored on this occasion.

Before an audience of over 400 guests, the Chancellor Lamothe took the opportunity to explain the ambitious program of free education of President Michel Martelly. He emphasized on the important work of "Happy Hearts Fund" and other organizations involved "Petra Nemcova, your determination and love for my country make than us, Haitians, have a special place in our hearts for you," said the Chancellor, before adding : "The objectives of the President Martelly in terms of education are ambitious. Haiti's children deserve the opportunity to go to school."

The contributions of this evening will allow to strengthen the program of free education initiated by the President Martelly, which aims to send to school more than one million children by the end of his term.

The organization Happy Hearts Fund has already built more than thirty-four (34) schools around the world in areas devastated by major natural events and inaugurated on May 16, its first school in Haiti, the school "Ecole Nouvelle Zoranje" located to the Village La Renaissance, at the Croix-des-Bouquets, in presence of the President Martelly.
