Haiti - Training : 69 new police officers graduates

During a ceremony last Thursday in the presence of Didier Le Bret, Ambassador of France in Haiti, the Prefect Jean Dussours, representing the French Ministry of the Interior in Haiti and Jean Lionel Trécil, Chief of Staff of Director General of the Police and Jean Miguélite Maximé, Director of the Police Academy and responsible for the continuing education of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), 69 police officers have been graduates after several months of training in the field of security. This new promotion has allowed to train shooting instructor, police officers in close protection, trainers in technical and tactical response and in defense techniques and of interpellation.

Speaking to the graduates, Jean Miguélite Maximé declared "I would like to extend my compliments and to share with you my great satisfaction in that day [...] This diploma is only a presumption of knowledge, it will not make of you proven professionals, but may demonstrate your skills and your professional skills in the transmission of knowledge.

You will have a major role in ensuring the rule of law, not by immisciant ou in politics, but by doing your job seriously and professionally. Knowledge is a major tool of the professional, but it is not sufficient in itself to make of you true professionals. It is therefore necessary to add the motivation, sense of duty, love of the profession and, above all, love of country and the sense of public service.

In a country like ours, you will sometimes be your own source of motivation because the challenges are many, but I assure you, you can always count on us, not only to improve your knowledge but also to share them with your students .

I would like to thank the trainers of teh UNPol who have done everything possible to make possible this training, the French cooperation that makes of teh PNH its priority axis and the Minustah who has provide the necessary leadership to stimulate the minds..."
