Haiti - Installation : Minister of Defense (Video speech)

The new Minister of Justice, Mr. Carlos Hercule, proceeded this week to the installation of the criminologist Jean Marc Berthier Antoine as the new holder of the Ministry of Defense, in the presence of the outgoing Minister, Dr. Enold Joseph, the Director General, Colonel Louis Marcelin Daniel, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H), members of the High Staff, executives and employees of the Ministry of Defense, as well as members of the new Minister's cabinet.

During his speech for the occasion, the new Minister of Defense sent his congratulations to his predecessor and thanked Prime Minister Conille for kindly associating him with the effort of national renewal, while promising to put his skills, know-how and pragmatism in the service of the country.

Faced with the deterioration of the country's security environment, Jean Marc Berthier Antoine is committed to doing everything possible to establish a defense policy based on a database system including both local and international information. In this perspective, it envisages a set of measures which will contribute to strengthening the capacities of the Armed Forces of Haiti.

The Minister concluded his speech by committing to strengthening the military workforce, creating new training and training camps, setting up a structure aimed at health coverage for the military and strengthening military cooperation with countries in the region among others.

Jean Marc Berthier Antoine holds a Master's degree in Criminology from the "Université catholique de Louvain" (UCL/Louvain, (Belgium) and a Specialization in the Fight against Financial Crime from the University of Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada)
