Arms trafficking : The FBI in Haiti

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, customs officer Jean Bernard Joseph, imprisoned since April 13 for complicity in illicit international trafficking of firearms and ammunition, was heard by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who came to Haiti specifically to question him.

Massacre among bandits

Clashes have intensified in the commune of Gressier between the specialized units of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the armed bandits who stormed the commune. This situation has completely paralyzed traffic in the area for nearly 8 days. Jean Vladimir Bertrand, the mayor of the commune of Gressier, estimates that more than 70 bandits were fatally injured in the exchanges of fire with the special units of the PNH. Given the large number of bandits killed, the City Hall had to dig a mass grave to put the bandits' bodies in.

Cité Soleil Gangs : Peace Agreement

On Wednesday, armed gangs operating in Boston, Brooklyn and Belekou, in the commune of Cité-Soleil, concluded a peace agreement. The information was confirmed by notables from the largest shantytown in the capital. Jimmy Chérisier alias "Barbecue", Mathias and Gabriel, two former rival leaders, met to seal this decision. As proof of their good faith, the gang leaders decided to destroy the shelters in which the snipers were positioned, with bulldozers, putting the population in jubilation.

On Wednesday, July 24, the Haitian delegation appointed judoka Phillipe Metellus to be the flag bearer of Haiti, during the opening ceremony of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games 2024.

The Minister of Defense discusses military training with Mexico

Jean Marc Berthier Antoine, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Haiti had a fruitful meeting with Ms. Joanna Yolanda Gómez Rodriguez, Chargé d'Affaires a.i of Mexico in Haiti. We discussed the strengthening of Haitian-Mexican cooperation in defense, with an emphasis on Mexico's support for military training.

O.G. Paris 2024

Wednesday, July 24, 2024 in Paris, in the presence of Ms. Niola Lynn Octavius, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, members of the Haitian Olympic Committee, a delegation of the Grenadières playing in France and representatives of associations of the Haitian community, the Embassy of Haiti in Paris organized a ceremony in honor of the Haitian athletes who will participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This activity was an opportunity for the Diplomatic Mission to salute the qualification of our athletes for this 33rd Olympiad and to assure them of the support of the Haitian people.
