CEP : final stretch

The decree appointing the members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) should be published next week, according to Edgard Leblanc Fils, rotating President of the Transitional Council. He regrets the disagreement within the majority of sectors around the designation of their representatives, which delayed the process.

The number 2 of Marc Arthur's gang arrested

Thursday, September 5, the named Guillod Ora (38 years old) 2nd leader of Marc Arthur's gang, operating in Rivière Froide, a locality of the commune of Carrefour, was arrested around 5:30 p.m., by agents of the Land Border Police (PoliFRONT) when he was trying to cross the border, informs the PNH.

Normalization with Haiti, Abinader sets his conditions

On Friday, September 6, during a joint press conference with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, Luis Abinader set the conditions for the normalization of relations with Haiti "In the sense that they can continue to move forward with their security and safety, we will continue to move forward in the normalization of our relations, such as the opening of our airspace."

EDE asks Advisor Augustin to resign

In a letter addressed to Advisor Smith Augustin, the National Political Bureau of the Committed to Development (EDE), asks him to make a "wise decision" by resigning from the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT). While reminding him that this resignation will in no way be an admission of guilt due to the presumption of innocence "[...] we believe that this wise decision will facilitate the smooth running of the investigation [...] will prevent the dislocation of the Presidential Council and more generally, will guarantee the unblocking of the situation."

Christene Guirand, Miss World Haiti 2024

Thursday, September 5, 2024, during the Miss World Haiti 2024 final at the NH El Rancho hotel, Christee Guirand among the 8 finalists won the crown of Miss World Haiti 2024. Laurie Jeanlus was elected 1st runner-up, Lovely Bazile 2nd runner-up and Kathy Charles 3rd runner-up. Shaika Cadet for her part won the crown of Miss Supra Globale 2024.

Words of Sympathy for Kenya

In a note, Chancellor Dominique Dupuy deplores the tragic death of 17 students in Kenya. "While Kenyan police officers are at our side and assist us in our fight against insecurity, Kenya is struck by a tragedy: 17 students lost their lives in a fire [...] The Haitian people join in the pain of their sisters and brothers in Kenya."
