Haiti - Tourism : Towards the publication of a catalog of historic sites

This Friday, the U.S. government will hand over to the Institute for the Protection of National Heritage (ISPAN), a check of USD$41.500. This amount is intended to support the ISPAN in its efforts to publish a catalog of existing historic sites in Haiti and enable the ISPAN to perform an inventory of 200 historic sites of great cultural value in Haiti.

The ceremony of this check will be held this Friday, December 9, 10 am, at Fort Jacques [1], the Ambassador of the United States, Kenneth H. Merten, and the Director of ISPAN, Mr. Daniel Elie, and local government representatives will be present.

[1] Fort Jacques is located in the town of Kenskoff, it was built shortly after independence, between 1804 and 1806. Near of this fortification, still survive the ruins of another unfinished construction, the Fort Alexandre, the works for the latter were suspended after the death of Dessalines in 1806. Both attractions offer wonderful views over the bay of Port-au-Prince.
