Haiti - Politic : Presentation of the «National Pact for Stability and the Organization of Elections» (video)

On Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Villa d’Accueil, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé participated in the official presentation ceremony of the "National Pact for Stability and the Organization of Elections".

This ceremony brought together members of the Government, representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps, political party leaders, representatives of the economic and social sectors, as well as civil society figures. Through their presence, these various sectors affirmed their shared commitment to contributing to institutional stabilization and the restoration of constitutional order.

The signing of this Pact constitutes a major strategic step in the transition process. It reflects a clear political determination: to create the necessary conditions for holding credible, inclusive, and transparent elections, while strengthening institutional stability and national security.

In his address, Fils-Aimé commended the signatories for their commitment, emphasizing that by signing, they had chosen dialogue, historical responsibility, and the greater good of the nation, declaring, "Destin tout Pèp chita nan desizyon ak angajman pitit li pran pou sèvi li. Chak jenerasyon ki rive sèvi peyi l pandan l mete sou kote enterè pèsonèl ak chirepit, se wout listwa li pran"

The Prime Minister stressed that the adoption of this Pact was the culmination of several days of intensive consultations, frank exchanges, and responsible consensus-building. He commended the men and women who, beyond their differences, prioritized national unity, civil peace, and political stability. "Pi gwo viktwa a, se viktwa pou demokrasi a. Se viktwa tout peyi a. Nan moman an, nou pa sèlman konpòte nou an dirijan politik. Nou montre lemond antye, nou se siman k ap koule beton estabilite pou Nasyon an"

Through this collective commitment, the signatories demonstrated their political maturity and their willingness to ensure the transition is based on shared responsibility. This Pact lays the groundwork for a coordinated, orderly, and planned exit from the transitional period.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed his firm commitment to guaranteeing the effective implementation of the Pact’s provisions, emphasizing :

• Strengthening public security;

• Institutional consolidation;

• Transparency in the electoral process;

• Active youth involvement;

• Wealth creation and economic recovery.

A pact that grants the Prime Minister and his government full powers without a clearly defined term limit, the right to make certain changes to the Constitution, and the right to share power…
