The "Kraze Baryè" Terrorist Group Under Pressure On Friday, August 21, 2026, the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Gang Supression Force (GSF) in Haiti continued their operations in Torcel, on the Frères road, against the Kraze Baryè gang. Law enforcement cleared roads and removed barricades to facilitate traffic and their operations, while exchanges of fire resulted in several terrorists being fatally wounded and others seriously injured, according to a PNH statement. The statement urged residents to remain vigilant, follow the instructions of law enforcement, and avoid the areas of operation. USA : Without TPS, Avoid Domestic Travel The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been advising undocumented individuals to avoid domestic travel since the end of Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Haitians, in particular, may now be more exposed to arrests and deportation proceedings. An increased presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and arrests have been reported at some airports. Lawyers are urging Haitians to exercise caution. Strengthening Social Security in Haiti In an effort to strengthen institutional cooperation in social security, officials from the National Old-Age Insurance Office (ONA) held a working session with executives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), particularly those responsible for the Civil Service Pension. This session allowed the two institutions to exchange information on mechanisms that could foster better collaboration, especially regarding issues related to retirement, pensions, and, more broadly, strengthening social security in Haiti. Les Cayes : Simulation Exercise at the Airport The Southern Network of the National Ambulance Center (CAN) participated this week in a simulation exercise organized at Antoine Simon International Airport in Les Cayes, at the request of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). This activity aimed to test the capacity of the various services to react, communicate, and intervene effectively in an emergency situation. For the National Rescue Coordination Centre (CAN), this participation represents an opportunity to strengthen the skills of first responders, refine their intervention techniques, and improve coordination with other stakeholders.
