CSC/CA reveals 22.5 billion overrun

The CSC/CA has revealed a 22.5 billion gourde overrun in public debt repayment expenditures during the last fiscal year, even as the execution of various other budgeted expenses remains notably low. According to its report published on October 6, only 46.8% of planned programs and projects were carried out, while investments by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security reached just 3.3% of allocated funds. Meanwhile, the Haitian economy continues to contract, with a 2.7% decline in real GDP, 31.9% inflation, and over 5.7 million people facing acute food insecurity. The Court recommends strengthening transparency, investment planning, and the monitoring of public resource utilization.

Cité Soleil : Active gang member in City Hall

According to a bombshell report by the United Nations Panel of Experts on Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-48614-haiti-flash-a-shocking-un-report-reveals-the-system-fueling-the-chaos-in-haiti.html , at least one active member of the Brooklyn gang, led by Gabriel Jean-Pierre, alias "Ti Gabriel", sits on the new Cité Soleil municipal commission. The Panel of Experts has expressed concern regarding collusion between certain local authorities and gangs within public institutions.

Northeast : Propane gas shortage

Inspectors from the Northeast Departmental Directorate of Commerce and Industry (DDNE) have observed a propane gas shortage throughout the department. In response, the DDNE is actively working to identify the root causes of this unavailability and help devise sustainable solutions ensuring consumer access to this essential product, while also seeking solutions that take into account the interests of entrepreneurs and industry operators.

FIFA : Grenadiers climb 4 spots

On Wednesday, October 7, FIFA released its latest world rankings, placing Haiti 84th with 1,280.91 points—a rise of four places compared to the previous ranking. It is also worth noting the progress made by the national team—led by Spanish coach David Badia—in the rankings for the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF). Haiti is closing in on the top 5, currently sitting in 6th place with 1,521 points. The Grenadiers rank behind Mexico, the United States, Canada, Panama, and Honduras.
