Artificial Intelligence and modernization at the heart of the debate : Discussions among heads of delegation laid the groundwork for an ambitious digital transformation of the sector. In light of the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and the growing electricity demands of technological infrastructure, the ministers tasked the Permanent Secretariat with conducting a regional assessment. The goal is to leverage AI to optimize power grid management and energy efficiency, while ensuring cybersecurity and adherence to rigorous ethical and environmental principles. At the same time, the meeting emphasized decarbonization through the gradual electrification of key sectors such as transport, industry, and buildings. This reinforced approach aims to replace the direct use of fossil fuels with electricity from renewable sources, ensuring a cleaner, more affordable, and resilient energy supply. Circular Economy and Youth Integration : Mindful of the environmental footprint of new infrastructure, participants endorsed guidelines focused on the circular economy. Member countries have committed to establishing recycling and reuse systems for end-of-life equipment—particularly photovoltaic panels and storage batteries—thereby promoting sustainable management of the entire lifecycle of clean technologies. Regarding governance and inclusion, the Assembly approved the creation of the Regional Youth Energy Council. This permanent platform will provide young leaders and experts in the region with a direct channel of dialogue with policymakers, enabling their innovative visions to be integrated into the development of future energy plans. For Haiti, the adopted resolutions open up concrete opportunities to benefit from technology transfers, targeted technical assistance, and multilateral partnerships—all essential for overhauling our national energy infrastructure.
