On Wednesday, in Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe also Minister of Foreign Affairs, summarized the situation and progress made by Haiti in terms of foreign relations, spoke of its objectives and outlined the next participations of Haiti on the international stage.

"[...] regarding the situation of foreign relations, I consider that from where we come, to where we are now, we have made ​​much progress on different aspects.

First, we were able to reaffirm the relations with the traditional countries. We have excellent relations with our partners and we affirm that the new Government of Haiti, wants to participate more in decision making in favor of its future...

[...] We have revitalized the South-South relations and for the first time in history, Haiti is a member of the African Union, which we will open many doors on the African continent. We have an action plan that we will develop in Asia, so that Haiti can benefit from all bilateral relations, in terms of revenue. We have already seen, that a country like South Korea that I visited, has already committed in Haiti. We will also revitalize our relations with Taiwan, [...] so that the cooperation should be directed in line with the needs of the Haitian people and in line with Government priorities... We want our General Policy, be he compass of all cooperants.

We also appointed, through parliament, 11 ambassadors different. We will send five others, so that Haiti has decent representations. The profile of the diplomats was also adjusted and is based on the priorities of the government Martelly-Lamothe, which is a Business Diplomacy and of development, to attract private investment and be able to put the country at the level that we have defined.

We will participate in the 42nd Summit of the OAS to be held in Cochabamba in Bolivia, we will also attend the summit RIO+20 where we will be represented by the President of the Republic. There are several other requests for cooperation, We have excellent relations with CARICOM countries [...] in regard to multilateral relations, I think that relations are better than ever [...] we are a member of CELAC and we will enhance our relationships with these countries and they have accepted Haiti as a member of Ibero-American summit, as we had asked them..."
