Haiti - Diplomacy : Representation of the United Kingdom in Haiti, a first since 1966

The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, on behalf of the Government of the Republic, welcomes with satisfaction the measure of the United Kingdom authorities, through the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Mr. William Hague, to establish a diplomatic mission in Haiti for the first time since 1966.

This decision of the Great Britain released this Thursday, June 21, in a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth, is part of a broader policy to strengthen British diplomacy throughout the world.

This measure also follows the steps of rapprochement initiated by the President Michel Martelly and implemented by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Laurent Lamothe as part of the new dynamics of business diplomacy.

The Chief of the Haitian Government sees in this provision in of the United Kingdom, an opportunity for Haiti to move closer to this country through fruitful cooperation for the benefit of the Haitian people.
