The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago has the duty to remind the Haitian community as a whole, that August 14, 2012, brings the 221st anniversary of the Ceremony of Bois Caïman ; very important event in the history of humanity, since it led to the creation of the First Black Republic of the world.

On this occasion, the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti organizes in collaboration with the Consular Mission and other local community organizations, Friday, August 17 from 7:00 pm, an evening recreational, cultural and patriotic at the Levy Center, located 300 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, IL, during which, snacks and refreshments will be offered.

The Consulate of Chicago, hopes again this year, to have a good participation of community members in this important event, which celebrates a moment of history, whose the symbolism must never be forgotten.

In addition, the Consulate will intervene Sunday, August 12 at 7:00 pm on the airwaves of "Radio Haiti Internationale of Chicago" (1590 AM or www.1590haiti.com) to treat a subject entitled "The Ceremony of Bois Caïman, a universal cause."
