Haiti - Politic : New majority bloc in the Chamber of Deputies (PSP)

Saturday at Club Indigo, at the end of a two-day retreat of a group of deputies, a new presidential majority bloc has been formed : "Parliamentarians for Stability and the Progress (PSP)". This block is currently composed of 60 deputies, has for mission to support the Executive in its various actions.

For this patriotic action, these deputies have proven that they have understood the urgent need to come together, in order to meet the demands of the hour stressed the President Martelly, who attended the retreat with several Ministers.

Speaking to the Head of State, the Deputy Jean Tholbert Alexis, coordinator of this new block declared "We voted for the current government, it is normal that we support its actions [...] Mr. President, you can rely on us. We're going to work."

The office of Directorate of PSP, which holds the majority of seats in the lower house is composed of 7 members :

Mr. Jean Tholbert Alexis, General Coordinator ;

Mr. Elie Blaise, Administrative coordinator ;

Mrs. Ogline Pierre, First Secretary ;

Mr. Astrel Dolné, Second Secretary ;

Mr. Kenston Jean-Baptiste, Spokesman ;

Mr. Abel Descolines, Spokesman ;

Mr. Fritz Chéry, Spokesman.

The list of members being opened, other deputies are invited to join the new political bloc.

The President Michel Martelly, expressed his satisfaction and congratulated the Deputies for this initiative. Friday evening, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, has also attended to a part of the discussions.

Contrary to what suggested the Senators of the opposition, the appointment of representatives to the Lower House to the Permanent Electoral Council, was not on the agenda. According to the Deputy Lesly Guirand, the priority topics of this retreat included : the new school year, the cost of living, the upcoming elections and the damage caused by the passage of Isaac in rural areas.

The President Martelly encouraged all sectors to solidarity in order to help him to face to all kinds of difficulties faced by the Haitian people.
