Haiti - Tourism : Launch of the Tourism Week

Friday, September 21, the Ministry of Tourism has launched the "Tourism Week". From September 23 to 27, activities will be organized across the country to mark the celebration of World Tourism Day under the theme chosen by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) : "Tourism & Sustainable Energy: Powering Sustainable Development". According to the WTO this theme "seeks to emphasize the role of tourism to shape a better future in which all humanity will have access to modern energy services, efficient and affordable."

Sunday, September 23 at tourist port of Jacmel, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism will open the celebrations of the "Tourism Week" during an important ceremony.

Monday 24, the Minister will visit Les Cayes to visit the the redevelopment work of the beach of Gelée and take part in the launch of a vocational training, to the benefit of taxi drivers in this tourist area.

Tuesday 25, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, accompanied by Jean Vilmond Hilaire, the Minister of the Environment, will travel to Saut d'Eau, where she will proceed with the planting of choublacks and shrubs near the park.

Wednesday 26, the Minister will be in Cap-Haitien for cultural activities and of training before returning on September 27 in Port-au-Prince for the official celebration of World Tourism Day.
