Haiti - Diplomacy : New Ambassador of the European Union

The Delegation of the European Union (EU) in the Republic of Haiti announces the taking office of the new Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the EU, Mr. Javier Niño Pérez.

Prior to his arrival in Haiti, Niño Pérez, assumed the role of Chargé d'Affaires of the Delegation of the European Union to Cuba. He has a long career within the European Commission, he replaces in this position, the Chargé d'Affaires Mr. Carlo De Filippi, whose mandate expired in August 2012.

The arrival of Mr. Niño Pérez falls within the framework of the partnership between Haiti and the European Union, focusing on cooperation in several areas, including infrastructure, governance, human rights, rural development and food security, the strengthening of Civil society, education and the support to trade and private sector.

Ambassador Niño Pérez reiterates in this occasion, the EU's commitment to remain alongside the Haitian people in the fight to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development.

Monday, September 24, Ambassador Javier Niño Pérez, will deliver to the Government of Haiti, credentials, during a ceremony at the National Palace.
