The Directorate General of Electricity of Haiti deplores the situation of blackout recorded in the metropolitan area in the evening of Thursday 8 Friday 9 November 2012.

It informs the general public and its customers in particular, that these cuts are due to a short circuit at the level of underground cables of the sub-station Toussaint Brave.

This situation caused by the defect of circuits of distribution, is ndeed alarming and constitutes one of major concerns of the EDH, as part of its Action Plan 2012-2013, aimed at rehabilitating, modernize the substations and increase distribution capacity.

Thus, the sub-station Toussaint Brave who had a power of 20 MVA, will now move to 30 MVA in order to overcome these problems of overload and failure in the network.

The Directorate General of the EDH also wishes to inform the public that its technical team is working hard to the repair and replacement of cables in order to power quickly the population, this Friday, November 9, at 3:00 p.m.

The Electricity of Haiti renews its commitment and willingness to work for the restoration of electricity in the country, in particular through its Action Plan 2012-2013, and calls on the Haitian population to the understanding and patience.
