Mr. Ady Jean Gardy, Minister of Communication, informs that in all the cities of the Republic of Haiti, appropriate ceremonies were held to commemorate the 209th anniversary of the victory of Vertières.

Members of the Cabinet of Ministers, which is the largest instance of state affairs, have attended the official ceremonies of homage to the heroes of the Battle of Vertières in the presence of the First Lady of the Republic, Mrs. Sophia St Remy Martelly and of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Marie Carmelle Jean Marie in charge of the event of 18 November.

Following the deposition of the wreath on the easel of honor, Government Ministers, Directors General and their assistants, together with the High Command of the National Police, made a tour in the National Pantheon Museum to salute the memory of the Founding Fathers of the homeland.

At the end of the ceremony, the fanfare of National Palace has performed with flame the hymn known of all students "Proud Haiti, Proud Fatherland", making vibrating the souls of all the patriots gathered.

In Cap-Haitien, a grandiose ceremony was also organized by the Government Martelly-Lamothe to Vertières with the active participation of the population Capoise.

The President of the Republic, Michel Martelly reiterated in his speech for the occasion, his intention to win others Vertières, those of the battle of Education for all, the fight against ignorance, the rehabilitation of environment and that of the establishment of the Rule of Law ; reiterated its determination to promote, through the Ministry of Defense, a new police force and equipped with specialized units to maintain the defense of the national territory, in the spirit of Vertières.

Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, for his part, called for national unity to put Haiti on the sites of reconstruction.
