This November 25, 2012, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women the President Michel Martelly and the First Lady Sophia Martelly have a special thought for women in difficult situations around the world, especially in Haiti.

Recalling that millions of women and girls in the world are beaten, assaulted, raped in their own homes, the Head of State take advantage of this day to remember its firm commitment to fight against all forms of violence and stigma against Haitian women and to promote a living environment that will allow them to evolve in the best conditions.

The President believes essential that women, who constitute more than 50% of the population, can be placed in optimum conditions to enjoy their work force and become truly economic agents to continue to contribute to the progress of their country.

"Violence of any kind, made ​​against women, must be denounced and banned in our society. I am personally committed to instruct the judiciary to strengthen its legal arsenal, in order to hunt down and punish those responsible for such crimes," argued the President Martelly, who recalls the importance accorded to women in his administration, in which, in conformity with the Constitution, there is a record percentage of 40% women members of the Government.
