Haiti - Literature : 3rd Prize for «La belle amour humaine» of Lyonel Trouillot

Goncourt finalist in 2011, Prize of Salon du livre of Geneva 2012 and the Grand Prix du Roman Métis 2011, Lyonel Trouillot, author of "La belle amour humaine" published by Actes Sud, received the French-Indian literary prize Gitanjali given in Pondicherry (India), Prize also awarded to the Indian author Poomani. The novel "La belle amour humaine" be published in India by an Indian publisher.

The laureate Francophone was selected by a jury based in France [Gil Jouanard, Ananda Devi and Hubert Haddad] and the Indian laureate by the jury based in India [David Annoussamy, Nalini J. Thampi, Urvashi Butalia and Koumarane Valavane].

The First Edition of Gitanjali aims to promote the French language in India, but alsoto that of Indian literature in France. Each year, a book and an French author will be awarded, as well as one Indian author.

In each of two category were also nominated : Manisha Kulshreshtha, Shigaf (Rajkamal Prakashan), Cécile Oumhani, L'Atelier des Strésor (Elyzad), Khaled Osman, Le Caire à corps perdu (Vents d'ailleurs) and T.K. Rema, V positive (DC Books).

Born in Port-au-Prince in 1956, where he still lives, Lyonel Trouillot left Haïti a few time to take refuge in the United States to escape the repression under Jean-Claude Duvalier in early 1980... but he never left the island forever. Lyonel Trouillot, fascinated by the literature from an early age, collaborated in various newspapers and magazines of Haiti and of the Diaspora in which he has published numerous poems and critical essays, he also wrote some texts of songs performed by Tambou Libète, Manno Charlemagne, Toto Bissainthe, Jean Coulanges and Atis Endepandan.
