Haiti - CEP : Without an agreement before Christmas, mediators will retire...

The deadline for an agreement between the Executive and the Legislature for an agreement on a formula for the formation of an Electoral Council, has been set to 25 December.

Bishop Pierre Andre Dumas one of the mediator of "Religions for Peace" remains convinced that a deal is still possible,however, if an agreement is not reached within this period, the mediators of Religion for Peace will retire of the file Mgr Dumas which appealed to the parties to put aside their personal interests and their ego in favor of the interests of the population "We are not political leaders. If we can not continue to help, we will take note of this and will inform the population of our position [...] By playing the role of mediator, Religions for Peace would only help to find an honorable solution but that does not violate the Constitution [...] If there is not this progress, we will inform the population that we have noted that the situation is blocked somewhere. We can not endorse or make believe that there will be an output in these negotiations"

Bishop Dumas, who accuse either party of the responsibility of delays observed, indicated that the majority group of MPs who support the Government had asked for a postponement to January 14, but the Executive disagreed and did not want to take a decision... but as mentioned Bishop Dumas there remained only joint statement made ​​by the President of the Republicand the majority of MPs [...] our elected should realize the gravity of the situation [...] This is not the time continue to make chèlbè."
