Saturday, in Arcahaie, while a meeting was held to reflect on the democratic process in the premises of "Chez Tati", which brought together nearly 70 leaders of political parties of the opposition and civil society, where participated inter alia : Mirlande Manigat, of the Rally of Progressive National Democrats (NPDR), Pierre Esperance, director of the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights RNDDH Saurel Jacinthe of INITE, the Senator Moïse Jean-Charles... Several dozen of people, some of whom according to testimony, wore pink bracelets, broke into the room where the meeting was held and thrown stones at the participants...

This violent aggression, that caused at least two wounded, according to participants, has prematurely put an end to this retreat. Mrs. Manigat condemned and described this incident as "serious violations of the freedom of assembly and association."

Saurel Jacinthe and Francisco Alcide (KID), accused the President Martelly and Prime Minister to be the instigators of the disturbance.

"We were not able to finish the meeting because of this aggression of government supporters [...]" have denounced the participants in the meeting.

Lucien Jura, the Spokesman of the Presidency immediately condemned this action and rejected the charges against the alleged involvement of the government "We strongly condemn this act of violence against leaders of political parties, which are free to meet. The Presidency has no involvement in this case," and asked the justice, to prosecute and punish according to the law, all individuals involved in this anti-democratic act.
