Haiti - Tourism : First meeting of the Consultative Council of Tourism

Tuesday, January 15, the Consultative Council of Tourism(CCT), held its first working meeting since its inception, Dec. 5, 2012. This session, which was held at the Ministry of Tourism, aimed at the presentation of the different members of the CTC and of attributions of the Organism.

In her speech for the occasion, Stéphanie Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism declared "This structure reflects a desire to strengthen the organization of the central government to give the tourism sector, a creative space, of synergy between the State and private operators in order to achieve a large touristic konbit public private," adding that "The Consultative Council, must guarantee the implementation of our revised Master Plan. It must also ensure the competitiveness of the sector and follow up the agreements made."

According to the decree of December 5, 2012 "The CTC is responsible for making proposals on all major issues concerning the Tourism Industry of Haiti in general, its policies, its programs and the valuation of all its patrimonies : natural, historical, cultural and artistic likely to contribute to its development and to a effective promotion of Haitian tourism, to facilitate the interaction and synergy between public and private operators."

The organism is composed of representatives of the public sectorand representatives of various organisms, organizations and associations involved in the industry, known for their contributions to the development of tourism.

Composition of CCT :

  • Presidnet : Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, Minister of Tourism ;

  • Representative of the Presidency : Mrs. Elsa B. Noel and Geneviève Louissaint ;

  • Representative of the Primature : Mr. Pierrot Delienne.

  • Representative of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation : Dr. Osny Eugène.

  • Representative of the Ministry of Culture : Mrs Rose Marie Monpoint.

  • Representative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance : Mr. Victor St Louis.

  • Representative of the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Com : Mrs Yvrose Jean.

  • Representative of the Ministry of the Environment : Mr. Joanson Lacour.

  • Representative of the Tourism Association of Haiti : Mr. Pierre Chauvet Fils.

  • Representative of the National Network of Solidarity Tourism Promoters (RENAPROTS) : Mr. Jean Camille Buissereth.

  • Representatives of the priority areas in the development of Tourism : Mr. Valéry Numa, Hôtel le Recul, Camp Perrin ; Dr Kiss Jean Mary, Hôtel L’hermitage of Pandiassou, Hinche.

  • Representatives of priority areas for tourism development as defined in the Master Plan of Tourism : Mr. Michel Gehy, Presidnet ATH-South-east, Mr. Jean Bernard Simonet, President ATH-North.
