Tuesday, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe officially launched, not far from Titanyen the construction of a supply dock and storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the presence, among others, of Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and René Jean Jumeau, Minister Delegate in charge of energy security.

This project of the Haytrac Power and Gas S.A. and its foreign partners including, the companies ANDINAT, PROMIGAZ and GASENER, will cost $123 million and will be completed in the next 36 months, it will create 159 direct jobs qualified and about 6,000 indirect jobs.

The construction of the terminal, with an area of ​​75,000 m2 will significantly reduce environmental pollution, the use of charcoal and wi drop up to 28% the cost of gasoline in the local market.

The project will be implemented in two phases :

1. The construction of a storage terminal of 15,000 m3 fopr the importation of liquefied natural gas at the level of Cité Soleil and Morne à Cabrit, capacity that will be doubled later.

2. Construction of a pipeline to supply the industrial area of ​​Port au Prince, in order to supply the plants and make them more productive in respect of the environment.

"The private sector project is the proof that the process of change initiated by the Government is on the right track. It also demonstrates the willingness of the private sector in Haiti to work with the Administration Martelly to create alternative energy sources as an alternative to charcoal. For his part, Reynold Bonnefil, the Director General of Haytrac Power & Gas S.A., gave the assurance that the project will comply with the "environmental standards, natural gas is a friend of nature and we will continue to be a friend nature," he promised.

The Prime Minister, who welcomed the efforts made by the Investment Facilitation Center (CFI) for the realization of this initiative, confirmed that he had already instructed the ministers, so that continuous monitoring is done to complete this important project.
