Haiti - Politic : Declarations of Michel Martelly in Dominican Republic

Yesterday Thursday, October 28, Michel Martelly, candidate for President of Haiti, delivered a lecture in the auditorium of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Recognizing without complex owe the audience, being a "beginner" in politic, he defined himself as a man full of dreams, of good will with the strength to raise his country from ruin, "I am a rebel, I am a rebel against mediocrity [...] all Caribbean countries sell their sun, with the exception of my country, this cannot continue."

Using simple language and sometimes humorous, the candidate Martelly declared that its government program is founded on the decentralization of the management of the Haitian State, and as proof of what he says, he suggests in priority dealing with the 1.5 million victims of the seism which have lived in camps for more than 10 months rather than to start the rebuilding of Port-au-Prince.

He deplores that his country moved back 25 years, victim "of the lazy governments" which "let die the children in the streets, while corruption became almost legal".

With force, he said that Haiti needs its people and its international friends to get up, but as an independent country, without being supported by many NGOs that operate without control, more money than the Haitian government.

He told his audience that he does not build schools if we can not ensure to feed the students "You can not study with an empty stomach, without knowing if you will eat in the day" He asked the Dominicans to invest in Haiti to rebuild the country, noting that Haiti and the Dominican Republic share the island and that "if Haiti is ill, the Dominican Republic is affected [...] We need the support of the Dominicans in many areas as environment, technology, construction for the economic stability."
