Haiti - Sport : End of water problems at FIFA Goal Center

The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) announces that from Wednesday, February 28 will be put into operation a new water supply system at FIFA Goal Center. The inauguration ceremony will take place in the presence of the German Ambassador to Haiti Manfred Auster, Régine Lamur, Minister of Youth and Sports and Rony Collin, Mayor of Croix des Bouquets. A small exhibition match between the girls from the Academie Camp Nou will follow the ceremony.

Recall that for several years, following the reduction of groundwater in the area of the Center of Croix des Bouquets, a serious problem of water supply handicapped the proper functioning of the Center, forcing the FHF to make large expenses (purchase of water trucks) to meet the multiple needs of the Center where train several times a day, hundreds of athletes and where coaches, supervisors and other employees work.

Moved by this problem, the German Embassy under a grant contract signed with the company SaniSuisse and the FHF a year ago, aimed to drill a new well two hundred and fifty feet deep (83m) of great capacity and especially the installation of a solar pump allowing the feeding of the circuits and cisterns to serve the toilets and also the watering of the playgrounds at any time without need the external supply. The FHF thanks the German Embassy for its participation in the solution of an urgent and important problem in improving the working and living conditions of young athletes.

Note that this donation of the German Embassy accounted for almost 50% of the construction cost of the new water system. The FHF through FIFA and the Haitian State has completed the cost of the work that lasted a year.

The FHF is now planning to build a kiosk to purify the water and allow it to be consumed and is looking for the necessary funding.
