Haiti - Sports : Tribute to Violette Athletic Club and honor to Philippe Vorbe

Thursday at a grand gala at the Hotel El Rancho, in an atmosphere full of emotions and open fellowship, Régine Lamur, the resigning Minister of Youth and Sports paid a special tribute to the Dean of the Haitian Football Clubs, the "Violette Athletic Club" and honored the former captain of the national team, the legendary Philippe Vorbe, in the presence among others former players, coaches, club leaders and those who rubbed shoulders with the former captain and footballer extraordinary.

The Violette Athletic Club, beyond its good record has given opportunities to thousands of young people and participated in their training as a sportsman but also as a citizen.

Minister Lamur introduced Philippe Vorbe as a model of success while inviting young people in particular and the Haitian people in general to follow the example of one who gave himself without restraint for his passion, his dreams, his country. The testimonies on the life and the career of Philippe Vorbe were numerous and very eulogistic. Brother, football player, coach, sports commentator, citizen, Philippe Vorbe remains an exemplary man. "His straightness, his discipline, his sense of sharing and his team spirit that have always characterized Philippe have allowed him to help many of the men he met to realize their dream and contribute to the influence of our sport king," stressed Lamur

Very moved, Philippe Vorbe who entered the CONCACAF Hall of Fame last June https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24634-haiti-news-zapping.html , by receiving a plaque of honor recognized the greatness of this gesture and wanted to share this honor with all those who helped to make him the man he has become.

In the presence of Deputy Frist Adrien, President of the Youth and Sport Commission and Senator Patrice Dumont, who played under the leadership of Philippe Vorbe, Minister Lamur accompanied by its Director General, members of his cabinet and Ministry officials, presented to the representatives of the Violette Athletic Club a check of 2 million Gourdes as financial support to the first Centennial Club of Haiti whose philosophy is similar to that of the Ministry to supervise the Haitian youth for its full development.
