Haiti - FLASH : Haiti loses bronze and wins silver at Baranquilla 2018

Tuesday, July 31 at the 23rd Central American Games and Caribbean Barranquilla 2018, Haiti was competing in football (small final), women's 100m hurdles, men's 200m and 5,000m and 1/4 final judo.

Football U-23 :

At 5pm the Haitian Olympic selection of Grenadiers U-23, faced on the lawn of the Stadium Saturn "Romelio Martínez" Honduras in "small final" for the 3rd place on the podium and the bronze medal.

Unfortunately, the men of Josaphat were humiliated [3-0] by Honduras and finished at the foot of the podium. In first half at 8' Première Calix Cristian N. opens the scoring for Honduras [1-0]. Returning from the locker room Calix Cristian scored twice in this match for Honduras at 45'+2 (2-0), Martinez Douglas F. at 76' scored a third goal against our Grenadiers who lost all hope of a medal in football .

Note that the grand final between Colombia - Venezuela was won by Colombia [2-0] who adds a gold medal to his table.

100m female hurdles :

On Tuesday, in the women's 100m hurdles, Clerveau Vanessa (24 years old) finished the 2nd place on the podium in 13 seconds 7/100 her personal best time behind the Costa Rican (gold medal) Vargas Mena Andrea (12 second 90/100) . Clerveau Vanessa wins the silver medal, the first medal so far of these games for Haiti ranked 20th and last on the medal board. Congratulations Clerveau Vanessa, Haiti is proud of you.

Men's 200m :

Tuesday at 6:22 pm, in the first round of series 2/3 of the men's 200m the Haitian rider Wesh Darrel did not show up on the starting line

At 6:29 pm in the first round of the 3/3 series James St-hilaire in the # 2 Corridor for Haiti finished 7th and last in 22 seconds and 97/100. The event was won by Colombian Baloyez Navas Bernardo in 20 seconds and 4/100 (record of games)

Men's 5,000m :

In the men's 5000m Djakichien Warrior in the color of Haiti finished 9th in 17 minutes 11seconde and 39/100. The 5,000m was won by Colombian Gonzales Jose Mauricio in 13 mn, 53s and 40/100.

Judo :

Tuesday in 1/4 of final category 73kg, the Haitian judoka Philippe A. Metellus who faced on the tatamis the Puerto Rican Miranda A. Augusto finished 2nd in 1/4 continues the competition in match of repêchage

In the repechage match Philippe A. Metellus who fought the judoka Venezuela Sergio J. Mattey lost. Ranked 7th in the tournament, this is the end of the competition for Mettelus.
