Haiti - Sports : Towards the democratization of boxing in vulnerable areas

This week, Edwing Charles the Minister of Youth and Sports accompanied by several officials of the Ministry met with Pierre Eddy Daniel, the President of the Haitian Boxing Federation (FHB), around the support of the Ministry to the FHB.

Wanting to implant this sports discipline and others in vulnerable areas, the Minister Charles decided to support this project of democratization of the discipline through cooperation Haiti-Cuba to encourage young people to pratice boxing in order to fight against juvenile delinquency in sensitive neighborhoods.

"Many values are taught through the practice of boxing. Primordial human values are transmitted, such as self-control and respect for others. In boxing, children work with a partner, they learn to communicate and manage their emotions and to control their strength," explained the Minister.

As part of the Haiti-Cuba bilateral cooperation, Minister Charles wants to solicit Cuban coaches to better train young Haitians to achieve quality boxing and allow many young people to change their living conditions and to put their talents at the service of the country by making the pride of all Haitians as our young athletes do internationally in various disciplines.
