In a statement, the President Michel Martelly, takes note of the decision of the Chamber of Deputies to give a vote against the Prime Minister-designate Daniel Gérard Rouzier, during the session held this Tuesday, June 21, 2011.

The statement specifies that "The Head of State is deeply disappointed, but in his capacity as a democrat, he can not accept the vote of the Deputies of the 49th Legislature", while remaining convinced that he made ​​the right decision by designating Mr. Daniel Gérard Rouzier as Prime Minister.

The President Martelly is aware of the magnitude of the problems of all kinds, that plague the country and reiterates his reiterates his determination to continue working tirelessly to bring the change expected. He will soon take steps to continue to meet his commitments to improve the living conditions of the Haitian people.

Following the rejection by the Chamber of Deputies of the nomination of the Prime Minister, Daniel Gérard Rouzier, the President of Martelly declared:

"... I think it's a sad day for Haiti, because I make a choice,[...] until today, I'm behind this choice.

Mr. Rouzier, I repeat again, is a man of integrity. He was ready to make a sacrifice to take a position, because the country is in his heart. But, as fighters, Mr. Rouzier, the team of the President and myself, we will not spend much time to complain, we are going to put us to work. Mr. Rouzier is convinced that he will still serve the country, with or without position, currently this will be without position, but for us, he will be there for Haiti and we will start working in the coming hours.

We can see that moment as a moment of crisis to manage, crisis, because we do not have a Prime Minister-designate, but I tell you, too, there are many crises in parallel to this crisis. [...] Currently, it is important that we begin to act at the level of cholera, education, health, agriculture, security and many other things that need to be made in the country .

We will not lose time [...] we will convene our team to start working, to come up with solutions. We will not leave the Palace today, before knowing how we will do, or when we will start doing it [...]

...It is a struggle, as I always say, but we will not lose the battle and for those who was waiting that Mr. Rouzier receive a chance to serve his country, I tell you: Mr. Rouzier is in battle."
