The President Michel Martelly, remember that this Saturday, September 10 brings the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Inter-American Democratic Charter.

"On this occasion, the Presidency reiterates its commitment to the principles characterizing this regional resolution which aims the maintenance of peace, the peaceful resolution of disputes between countries of the continent, the defense of the democracy and human rights, the strengthening of homeland security, the fight against drug trafficking and corruption.

The Inter-American Democratic Charter reflects the will of the Member States of the OAS to have mechanisms of collective action intended to defend the democracy, in the principle of nonintervention."

The Head of State recalls that the Charter, "constitutes a major event on the continent, which earns it the honor to be always commemorated and Haiti wants to join with the solemnity of the moment."
