Haiti - Politic : Commission of Inquiry on the nationality of members of the Executive

The offensive against the executive in the case of Arnel Bélizaire, moves on another front, accentuating still further the political crisis between the parliament and the Executive.

Friday evening, the Senate approved the creation of a special commission to investigate the nationality of members of government, including that of Head of State.

This Commission, at the initiative of Senator Jean-Charles Moïse, composed of nine senators from different political sensibilities [Joseph Lambert, Yvon Buissereth, Steven Benoît, Youri Latortue, Dieuseul Simon Deras, Evallière Beauplan, John Joël Joseph, Nenel Cassy and Moïse Jean-Charles] will have to determine whether the records of the current leaders are in line with constitutional requirements. The Senator Moïse, blaming the passivity of the Senate, justified this commission by the absence, according to him, of serious investigations on the nationality of members of the ministerial cabinet during the ratification process.
