From November 15 to 17, the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly will visit Cuba, it will be accompanied among others by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Laurent Lamothe, the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Reginald Paul, the Minister of Agriculture Natural Resources and Rural Development, the Agr. Hébert Docteur, of Minister of Environment, Joseph Ronald Toussaint, of President of the Senate, the Senator Jean Rodolphe Joazile (1), the President of the Chamber of Deputies, the Deputy Sorel Jacinthe (1) and the President of the Commission Foreign Affairs of the Senate, Wencesclass Lambert and of deputy Altes Toussaint.

The objective of this three-day official visit is to strengthen the traditional ties of cooperation between Haiti and Cuba while identifying new areas of cooperation. The President Martelly during his visit must have a meeting with the Cuban President Raúl Castro. It is also planned working sessions that will be chaired by the Heads of State of Haiti and Cuba.

The arrival of President Martelly at the international airport José Martí in Havana is scheduled for 3pm local time.

Locally the Cuban are for over 12 years, heavily involved in health, and most recently in the fight against cholera, they are also involved in the development of a literacy campaign that reached more than 165.000 citizens of Haiti. Not to mention that many Haitians are trained in medicine on the neighboring island of Cuba. Recently the Haitian Senate passed a resolution calling for the unconditional lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade applied by the United States for over 50 years against Cuba.

(1) Accorning to the latest informations, Sorel Jacinthe has publicly declined the invitation of Head of State, requiring that the light be shed on the case Bélizaire before any collaboration with the executive, also claiming the dismissal of all those involved in the arrest of the deputy, for his part Jean Rodolphe Joazile, indicated that he wanted to meet with his colleagues before deciding.
