Bandits routed

On Sunday, December 1st, 2024, a joint routine patrol (MMSS/PNH) intercepted a truck hijacked by bandits to block the road near the Carrefour de Cazeau. Thinking they would encounter little resistance, the gang members had to face superior firepower from the patrol, forcing them to flee, several bandits were injured. The truck was recovered and returned to its owner after being secured at the police station.

Reopening of the French Embassy

The French Embassy in Haiti and consular services will be reopened to the public from this Monday, December 2nd, 2024.

The Gourde relatively stable

Despite a period of serious political, social, security and economic crises, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) has managed to maintain a relative stability of the Gourde against the US dollar. On November 30, 2024, the reference rate was 130.58 Gourdes for one US dollar compared to 132.21 Gourdes for one dollar on November 30, 2023, demonstrating a slight appreciation (+0.37) of our national currency despite a difficult context.

IOM, a lifeline of healthcare for displaced people

Faced the gang violence against health centres, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) mobile clinics have become a lifeline, providing healthcare to displaced families. Over the past three months, more than 7,000 people have received medical services. IOM thanks EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid for its life-saving support.

Distribution of essential supplies

In the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, the International Organization for Migration (IOM-Haiti), with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti), is distributing essential items such as blankets, hygiene kits and waterproof tarps to displaced families, allowing them to maintain their dignity despite the crisis. However, the isolation of the capital highlights the urgent need for expanded humanitarian assistance.

FHF : Extension of the mandate of the Normalization Committee

Saturday, November 30, 2024, Patrick Massenat, Secretary General of the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) announced the extension of the mandate of the Normalization Committee until November 30, 2025.
