Deadly rains

The torrential rains that have been falling for several days on the Grand'Anse department have caused flooding in several municipalities. The toll is heavy, 3 dead including a 5-year-old child and 3 people missing. In Cap-Haïtien, several neighborhoods are under water, roads are cut and Morne Grand Gilles is impassable.

Cité Soleil : Public Works, clear the streets after the rains

Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, 24 hours after the torrential rains that hit the metropolitan region on the night of December 3, the Departmental Directorate of the West of the Ministry of Public Works carried out cleaning and removal operations on tens of linear meters of arteries strewn with debris, alluvium and marshy water in the neighborhoods of Brooklyn, Boston and Bélécourt in the commune of Cité Soleil.

Inflation 24.3% (October)

According to the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI), inflation in October was 24.3% (over 12 months) compared to 27.9% the previous month. However, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a monthly increase of 1.4%.

Quebec : A Haitian priest rector of the Saint-Joseph oratory

Haitian priest Bernard Antoine, born in Dondon, Haiti, was installed earlier this week as rector of the Saint-Joseph oratory, in Mont-Royal, Montreal, Qc., Canada. Father Bernard Antoine becomes the 16th Religious of Sainte-Croix and the first black to hold this position. He succeeds Father Michael M. DeLaney, with whom he teamed up as Vice-rector for pastoral work for the past four years.
