Haiti - Politic : CARICOM awaits Haitian proposals to resolve CPT internal crisis

Two days before the end of this year, the political actors concerned by the internal crisis of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), continued discussions without reaching an agreement on the future of the CPT.

The Eminent Personalities of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) will therefore have to wait until the new year to receive from Haiti a proposal to resolve the internal crisis that the CPT is currently experiencing.

It should be recalled that the eminent personalities of Caricom were in Haiti two weeks ago to initiate dialogue towards a resolution of the CPT crisis. After their departure, a few meetings were held in Haiti, but there are still more sectors to consult to discuss this issue.

The groups that have already done so are considering creating a Commission to work on the proposals requested by Caricom.

The consultations conducted so far have had points of consensus and divergence, some suggest that to reach a serious proposal, it is necessary to marginalize the presidential advisers Louis Gérald, Smith Augustin and Emmanuel Vertilaire, accused in the BNC corruption case https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43336-haiti-flash-the-ulcc-in-the-bnc-case-requests-criminal-actions-against-3-transitional-advisors-report.html , because they represent a threat to the political future of the Transition.

Others suggest the need to reconfigure the CPT and the formation of a national backup government.

Even if the sectors almost unanimously agree that the accused presidential advisers represent an obstacle to the proper functioning of the CPT, it remains to be determined how to dismiss them, replace them and also how to keep alive the transition responsible for preparing the ground for the general elections.
