PNH : Hotel Lakansyèl under control

The Haitian National Police (PNH) has regained control of the Hotel Lakansyèl located in the commune of Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite, in the Ségur area, which served as a hideout for Savien’s bandits. From now on, the PNH will use the hotel as a strategic base of operations.

Arrest of a fake doctor

The Haitian National Police (PNH North), arrested on January 15 a man named Pierre Moïse, who was posing as a doctor, at the Justinien Hospital. When he was arrested, Pierre Moïse had in his possession several instruments related to the medical field. Through a check on his phone, images of the fake doctor were found administering care to several patients at the Justinien hospital in Cap-Haïtien and another located in Port-de-Paix.

Accusations against Magalie Habitant

The Haitian National Police (PNH) informed that Magalie Habitant, the former Director General of the National Solid Waste Management Service (SNGRS) had been arrested https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44048-haiti-news-zapping.html accused of criminal association and financing of armed gangs. Other arrests could occur, Magalie Habitant having decided during her interrogation to denounce people and give names... Currently, she is in police custody at the DCPJ.

Football : National Players Agent, registrations open

The Haitian Football Federation informs that the registration register to become a national players agent has been officially open since January 15, 2025 and will remain accessible until Friday, February 15 at 11:59 p.m. Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be subject to an exam, the results of which will determine their status as a national players agent. Due to the current situation, the Embassy of Brazil in Haiti has limited resources to facilitate the printing of approved visas in quantity, as air transport is impacted. The Visa Application Center for Brazil, operated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), asks all those who have already submitted their application in 2024 to wait calmly.

Funeral of journalist Jimmy Jean

Thursday, January 16, 2025, the funeral of journalist Jimmy Jean killed during the attack perpetrated by bandits against the General Hospital, on December 24, 2024 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-43943-icihaiti-insecurity-attack-on-general-hospital-death-toll-rises.html was sung at the Saint-Pierre Church in Pétion-ville. Relatives, colleagues and citizens paid their last respects to the victim.
