The Director General of the Social Assistance Fund, arrested

Lionel Lazarre, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Haitian National Police (PNH) confirmed that agents of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) had proceeded on Thursday, January 30, 2025, to the arrest of Elionor Devalon, the Director of the Social Assistance Fund (CAS). According to unofficial sources, his arrest could be linked to alleged links with gangs, although the Police have not given any explanation for the charges against him.

Malta H in school canteens ?

Me Kevenot Dorvi, the General Coordinator of the National School Canteen Program (PNCS), accompanied by the institution's executives, including agronomist Claude Victor Bastien, Director of Quality and Ms. Valeska Maurice, Director of External Cooperation, met with Artem Zyabkin-Bodunov, President and CEO of the Brasserie Nationale d'Haïti (BRANA) around a partnership envisaged for the benefit of schoolchildren which would consist of introducing Malta H in school canteens.

Meeting of the Haitian Chancellor with his French counterpart

Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Harvel Jean Baptiste was warmly welcomed by his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot. The two Chancellors discussed security cooperation between Haiti and France, the transformation of the MMSS into a UN peacekeeping operation (blue helmets), memorial issues, the sanctions file and France's humanitarian support.

Port-au-Prince and territorial governance

On Thursday, January 30, 2025, Ralph Youri Chevry, the acting Mayor of Port-au-Prince, held a meeting with the Boards of Directors of the Communal Sections (CASEC), the Administrations of the Communal Sections (ASEC) and the city delegates, in order to discuss territorial governance and the overall situation of the municipality. He reiterated his desire to work closely with the authorities of the local authorities to meet the challenges of the capital and improve the living conditions of citizens.
