Friday, January 31, 2025, a delegation including Prime Minister Fils-Aimé, Ministers Paul Antoine Bien-Aimé (Interior), Patrick Pélissier (Justice), Normil Rameau, Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and several other personalities from Civil Society welcomed on the tarmac of Toussaint Louverture International Airport, Leslie Voltaire, President pro tempore of the Transitional Council (CPT) who was back in the country after his official tour of Italy and France.

Leslie Voltaire at the airport's diplomatic lounge, spoke to the press to take stock of his trip that began on January 25.

He also met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See to discuss issues of insecurity and hunger in the country. President Voltaire took the opportunity to place an image of "Our Lady of Perpetual Help" patron saint of Haiti, in the Vatican gardens. In his prayer, he also asked the Virgin to help the country find salvation from gangs and weapons.

He visited the Haitian Embassy in Rome and met with the Haitian Ambassador and the Haitian community.

In France, Leslie Voltaire met one-on-one with President Emmanuel Macron https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44168-haiti-flash-emmanuel-macron-evoked-the-independence-debt-with-leslie-voltaire-video.html They discussed, among other things, issues of insecurity and humanitarian aid. The French President raised the issue of the Independence debt, and promised to speak again on this issue on April 17, 2025, which will mark 200 years since King Charles X decided to make Haiti pay to recognize its independence.

Ms. Mushikiwabo reaffirmed the OIF’s support for Haiti and announced the upcoming appointment of a Special Envoy to support stabilization and governance efforts. The Organization will also support Haitian public media in preparation for the upcoming referendum and elections, to ensure inclusive debate and information accessible to all.
